“The Charter expresses the commitment of member states to the development of free and democratic societies and the promotion of peace and prosperity to improve the lives of all peoples of the Commonwealth”.

The Central Heads of Government (CHOGM)

There is a very influential group called the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM)*. This group meet every two years, and we regularly correspond with them on the ‘frozen’ pensions issue in order to keep it on their agenda. Here are some samples of this correspondence:

11 Nov 16: Response from the Commonwealth Secretary General, Baroness Patricia Scotland, QC

“..what we now have is a situation of fundamental unfairness. A number of British citizens who worked in this country all their lives, making a considerable contribution, are going to be treated differently if they choose to return to the countries of their birth”.

8 Oct 16: Letter to the Commonwealth Secretary General from Jim Tilley (BPiA/ICBP)

27 Oct 13: Letter to President of Commonwealth of Dominica from Jim Tilley (BPiA/ICBP)
