The International Consortium of British Pensioners (ICBP) works to right the injustice of frozen pensions, working to draw attention to the issue and to put pressure on decision makers in the UK.
Across the world, hundreds of thousands of British state pensioners are being discriminated against simply because they retired to the ‘wrong’ country. There are 120 frozen countries of which 18 have 1,000 or more frozen UK pensioners living there.
In January 2016, the ICBP prepared a cost/benefit analysis report which was submitted to the Rt. Hon. Oliver Letwin, MP, who at that time held a very senior position in the Cabinet Office. This shows how far the campaign to unfreeze pensions has come.
In February 2016, in conjunction with the National Pensioners Convention the ICBP prepared a report entitled “Frozen British Pensions: The Case for change”.
In April 2016, Mr. Letwin responded to the cost/benefit analysis explaining that further work was required to substantiate the case.
In July 2016, consultants previously used by Government departments were engaged to carry out that work.
